Holy Trinity Anglican Parish Launceston
In 1838 Father James Cotham was appointed as the first Catholic priest to be based in Launceston. The first regular Masses were held in a temporary weatherboard chapel in Cameron Street. Before Father Cotham's appointment land had been made available for the establishment of a Catholic church on 'Cataract Hill'.

St. Cuthbert Mayne Church. . St. Cuthbert Mayne Church c.1950. The mission at Launceston was established in 1886 at Kensey Villa ( the present presbytery below) by the Rev. Charles Baskerville Langdon an Anglican curate at St Mary's Plympton before his conversion to Catholicism in 1883. This was also the year of the beatification of Cuthbert.
